I have a PayPal Credit account through Synchrony Bank. It came to my attention several months ago that when I make a payment which includes all standard purchases for the month and what ever Promotional deferred interest purchase is due that the payment is not being applied to the standard purchases ( which creates interest due on them ) but to future deferred interest purchases. In these instances the deferred interest purchase is not due for 4-6 weeks from date of payment. I am supposed to have 6 months interest free but am getting XXXX XXXX - 5 months instead. Even though they advertise and set up due dates that are 6 months out. I have talked to them, initially when it first came to my attention approximately 3 months ago. Their solution is that after I make a payment I have to call and specify how it is to be properly applied and they then reverse the original application of funds to correct the problem. I have other accounts that have XXXX interest balances and new charges and when I make a payment the new charges ( which would accrue interest ) are paid first before any application of funds to the XXXX interest balances. This is what my understanding of what credit card regulations require : that pmts be applied to higher interest charges first. In this case, the interest would not be charged until the following statement, but it would be charged if I didn't call to have them manually fix it. This is the only credit card I have that regularly applies payments improperly. I'm hoping you can bring this to the attention of the company so their IT department can correct this flaw in their payment processing system. Thank you.
