I have a bank account with Bank of America, but now I live overseas and I am trying to close it. My online access was blocked due to some obscure security measure. I called the bank and was told to travel all the way to XXXX XXXX, XXXX ( a XXXX-hour flight from XXXX, where I live ). I went to the address I was given, but the local branch didn't even allow me inside, alleging they operate independently from the US system. I called again and the only thing they say is that I have to go to a BOA branch in the US. The problem is that I don't have any plans to travel and the amount of money is just over {$2000.00}, so it wouldn't make any sense to pay for a trip which would be more expensive than the money I am trying to retrieve. I traveled to XXXX XXXX because of a bank mistake and now I'm in a humiliating situation, having to beg for my hard-earned money. In my most recent attempt to contact BOA, I was provided with the contact information of a person who is never available and does not return my calls, despite leaving messages on her voicemail.
