Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/year>, I was shown an advertisement for the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select Card while booking a flight, implying that I could use the promotion for that same flight. I applied for and was approved for a Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select Card with a credit limit of {$14000.00}. At the end of the application process, there was an option to get a temporary card number. I planned to use this credit card to purchase my XXXX XXXX flight. The promotion offered up to a {$250.00} statement credit on eligible XXXX XXXX purchases in the first 6 months of account opening, plus XXXX bonus miles after {$2000.00} in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. The XXXX XXXX website timed out or I might have close out of the tab, so I had to re-enter all of my information. By the time I was ready to input the credit card information, I couldn't find the tab with the temporary credit card number. I attempted to log into my new Citi account, but it said I needed the CSV on the back of my credit card. Since I was approved the same day, I won't receive my physical credit card for 7-10 business days. I called Citi and spoke to 5-6 different agents. I was ultimately told that there was nothing they could do to trigger the temporary credit card number again and that I would need to wait until my physical card arrived. I believe I was deceived because the advertisement suggested I could use the credit card for the specific flight at a certain price. Now, I'll need to wait 7-10 business days to book the flight, and the specific flight will very likely be at a different price.
