Consumer Narrative

After the purchase of my home, it became apparent to me that the transaction has cost me more harm than good. Purchasing a home should be a wonderful investment, but soon after moving in, I found that it was not the case for me. Once I determined that the builder that was introduced to me was not going to honor the builders warranty, I proceeded to do more investigation into the sale transaction and what was intentionally not disclosed to me. It has taken time to get to this point because my first priority was to take care of the hazards on the property to keep my family and me safe. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage switched me to a loan program that I did not request without sufficient prior notice. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage switched me to a minority program strictly because I am a minority. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage took the minority program as an opportunity to increase the mortgage rate. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage, through their negligence, did not verify/confirm that the builder they advertised as their preferred builder had a license to build in the state of Alabama or they do not verify/confirm builders licenses for loans that are specifically for minorities. I contend that through this negligence FirstBank Mortgage allowed my family, my pet, my property, and me to be put in harm by supporting a builder that was doing business outside the laws of the state of Alabama. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage contributed to/caused monetary harm since I had to correct issues that were not honored through the warranty. My current out of pocket is {$14000.00} just to prevent water from entering the yard on to the homes foundation and to remove the hazards ( rocks, bricks and debris covered with grass netting ). I will also need to correct the front yard due to standing water due to improper grading. estimate is over {$10000.00}. I could not use my back yard for a year because I feared that any visitors, my pet, and me could be harmed. The county tax inspector indicated that my property would be devalued because of the condition of the yard. The tax assessment was done before I had a chance to correct the issues. Questions about flooring never answered. Flooring is buckling and the estimated cost to replace is over {$10000.00}. At this point I have no idea what other issues may surface due to negligence. I contend that FirstBank Mortgage contributed to/caused emotional harm. Now I am at this point of filing my complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau not only for myself but also for any future customers of FirstBank Mortgage.
