I called CITI bank to settle a XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card debt. They couldn't find the debt as it was sold to a collection agency. So I called a firm claiming to handle the debt. I was transferred to a man named XXXX at XXXX. I offered to settle to debt. I made a offer of 30 % of what they claimed I owed. He put me on hold several times He acted like he was sick. He came back twice without any counter offer and said his supervisor told him he can't settle the debt. So I am writing to you as I want to settle the debt but I can't negotiate against myself. This was a good faith effort to settle and pay this debt. I am trying to buy my XXXX home ever and I need this cleaned up in order to get the loan for the home If they won't work with me how am I suppose to move forward? I have attached the name of the companies involved in the paperwork I have been sent. Now that I have started to look for a home they are harassing me to pay this debt in full I don't fee this is fair because for the last 12 years I didn't even know this debt was hanging out there until now. I appreciate any help you can give me on this. I really want to settle the debt and move on. Thank you.
