I have attached a letter from Macy 's -- -- I cancelled by card with them a long time ago. They state it was a Macy/AmEx card . I do not have any info about the card due the length of time except that the card # ended in XXXX. This is from the letter I sent to the XXXX XXXX XXXX and Macy 's. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Subject : Complaint : Macys Credit Card ( my name ), Card # ending in XXXX Dear Sir or Madam : Enclosed is a copy of a letter I received from Macys dated XX/XX/XXXX about a credit card that I cancelled a long time ago. Apparently they have split from XXXX and are providing their customers with a replacement Macys card. I DO NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE MACYs card nor did I request a new one. They acknowledge in the letter that my account was previously closed. I was very upset by this and called. I was told that this letter was sent in error, that they had a lot of complaints and that a new card was NOT being issued. A CARD WAS RECEIVED THE NEXT DAY. This reminds me of the gigantic scam perpetrated by XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX Macys has no right to open a credit account in my name without my express permission. I would imagine this misuse of my personal info ( that they kept since I cancelled over 5 years ago ) in is violation of the Patriot Act?
