Consumer Narrative
When I purchase a new cell phone from Verizon XXXX, they offered my a Synchrony Verizon Visa Card. I was skeptical to accept it because of problems I had had with a XXXX 's credit Card issued through Synchrony. ( Note : XXXX 's has since cease to do business with Synchrony and has switched to XXXX XXXX. I am XXXX XXXX XXXX and have had XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I made an EFT payment of {$50.00} to the account. This was not a regular, scheduled payment, but an extra payment to reduce my outstanding balance. On XX/XX/XXXX, I made an EFT payment of {$100.00}. Again this was an extra payment. Several days later, when I went online to check my account I notice that the payment had not been credited and there was a {$30.00} fee from Synchrony. I contacted Synchrony and was told that the payment had not gone trough because of a numerical error in either the tracking number or the account number. I immediately contacted Sychrony, gave them the XXXX number and asked that they remove the {$30.00}. They refused. After escalatling my complaint they removed the {$30.00} charge. ( Subject of my previous complaint ) On XX/XX/XXXX I made an extra payment of {$100.00} and On XX/XX/XXXX I made an extra payment of {$200.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX I received notification from my internet provider that my automatic scheduled payment of {$13.00} was denied by Synchrony, I contacted the provider and made sure that they had the right information. I then contacted synchrony was told that my account had been cancelled and that I would be receiving a letter informing me of their decision to cancel my account. Even though I escalated my complaint, no one at Synchrony would discuss the cancellation with me. When I tried to view my account online, I discovered that I was locked out of my account and could not access any of the information needed to file this complaint. Synchrony has refused to allow me access to my online information. I need that information in order to file a complaint with the Commonwealth of Massachuetts under MGL c92A ( the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Statute ). Cancelling an account due a numeric information error which was immediately corrected ; refusing to honor a charge that was scheduled before I was informed of the account closure and hiding my online financial records from me is unconscionable, but wholly typical of the management 's attitude at Synchrony Financial. I have contacted senior management at Verizon whose name and logo appear on the card and, apparentl y, they are not happy and I was told that this is not the first complaint that they had received concerning Synchrony.
