I live in a sketchy neighborhood in XXXX XXXX. Apparently some people have been jumping postal workers for their master keys, so they could open mailboxes. I complained to my landlord for months about coming home multiple times to find my mailbox door wide open. We were one of the only houses on the block with an external mailbox. It took him over 6 months. Meantime I kept having important mail stolen. I had my mail redirected, but it was too late. Someone tried to open as many accounts as possible in XX/XX/XXXX. Im grateful that most companies said no due to how fishy it looked to them. But 2 said yes, one of them being Chase. I have called Chase numerous times to speak to their higher ups, since this case cant seem to be resolved. I called in XXXX when I was 1st made aware of the fraud. Reported the fraud, asked to have the account closed, to have proof of closure sent to me. They said they couldnt, but that they could send me a fraud kit. Which that they didnt even do. Filed a police report about my mailbox being broken into numerous times, and that leading to identity theft. In early XXXX when I realized it was still open I called back, spoke to management to figure out why it was still open. Even they couldnt figure it out. They had me on hold, spoke to several techs, escalated the situation, all to try to close the account. After about an hour, the manager reported the account closed. I again asked for proof to be emailed to me, and he refused. Stating hed have a fraud kit sent over.. Again, still no kit. And the account still looks to be open. This has horribly messed up my credit score. Ive been wanting to move out of my awful neighborhood, but Im stuck until my credit score goes back to where it once was
