I sold a home and deposited my proceeds into my Marcus online savings account. I then attempted to transfer some of those funds to another account with XXXX. I have been transferring funds between these accounts for well over a year with no issue. Marcus reversed that transaction. I then tried to initiate transfers between my Marcus account and my primary banking institution XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and Marcus has also reversed all of those transfers. I called and asked for assistance and was informed my deposit agreement states that they can restrict access and ACH transfers to and from my account at any time without notice. I asked if that meant they could prevent me from accessing my money ever again, and they reiterated that those are the terms of my deposit agreement. They also stated they could not help me resolve these issues at this time. I am furious, while I understand banks need some tools to combat fraud I believe Marcus is intentionally holding well over XXXX dollars hostage to prevent me from transferring to a bank with higher interest rates. What they are doing is wrong, and those terms are unconscionable. They verified my identity with callbacks and security questions, they know I initiated these transactions, and they still refuse to allow me to move my US dollars between my US bank accounts.
