Consumer Narrative
I applied for a Chase Freedom Unlimited Card with an advertised promotion to receive a {$200.00} statement credit after {$500.00} of purchase in the first three months. ( Remains as advertised on website https : //creditcards.chase.com/cash-back-credit-cards/freedom/unlimited ) I was approved for this card on XX/XX/year>. I was continually shown this $ XXXX {$500.00} deal during the application process and applied for this card entirely to take advantage of this promotion. I was never told that I did not or would not qualify for this deal, including upon being approved for the card. I did suffer a small hit to credit score in order to apply for this card, as it added an additional 'hard pull ' on my credit card. After spending {$500.00} I called the company to inquire the status of my statement credit, the company then informed me that I did not have the $ XXXX {$500.00} promotion on my card and would not be receiving the credit. The first two representatives told me that the promotion I was seeking never applied to the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card, and when I found the information advertising it with the card I applied for, I called back and was escalated to a supervisor, who told me that my promotion was changed to a new promotion, where I would receive 1.5 % on my first {$20000.00} of purchases in the first 12months and attempted to convince me that this was a better deal. I have never and will never attempt to pay that much on this card and would never receive the " additional '' rewards. I understand that all similar programs are subject to approval, but I was never at any point informed my promotional offer was changed, and that changed caused material financial harm. I have suffered damage to my credit score and {$200.00} in lost promised rewards, without any notification or acknowledgement from the company. I asked the company for anywhere I could submit a complaint regarding this issue, and they provided only a mailing address of a 3rd party company and refused to provide any email or survey form.
