This company texted me out of nowhere on XX/XX/2024, at XXXX XXXX MST, stating that my account has been listed as a refusal and that documentation will be sent to my home and employer 's addresses. They sent the text from XXXX. I called the number immediately and spoke to XXXX XXXX, who said he was from XXXX XXXX XXXX. He said that they would request a judgment against me and send it to my home address and my employer 's address, so I told him I was happy to resolve any debt but needed to verify it and asked him to please send me a letter of verification. He had my old home address, birth date, and social security number, which is concerning, considering he could not verify for me which company he is from. What he sent me was incomplete ; it didn't have a company website or physical address, and two different companies were listed in the letter he sent. He emailed it to me from : XXXX. When I asked him where I could make online payments, he directed me to an entirely different website : XXXX XXXX XXXX. When I replied by email to ask him to verify his company name, website address, and physical address, he did not respond. I then called the original creditor, Loanme, who said they could not locate my information in their system by social security number, name, phone number, or address. I then called XXXX again at the phone number on his letter : XXXX XXXX, and asked him to please provide me with his full company name, company website, and the physical address for his company so I can verify the legitimacy of his company. He then refused to provide me with the information and argued with me, stating that they could just get a judgment against me if I didn't want to pay. I advised I am glad to resolve what debt I may truly owe, but I need to know who I am sending money to before I provide any information. I asked him multiple times for the information, and he just hung up on me. I replied to his email and notified him that I would report them to CFPB. I want to ensure that if there is any debt that I owe, I am able to verify the company collecting it from me before I hand over any financial information or make payment arrangements. I need the debt verified. I also want to ensure that this company, if not legitimate, does not contact my employer.
