I have a best buy credit card issued by Citi Bank with a current balance coming due XX/XX/year>. The balance is {$640.00} and if not paid they will charge me {$340.00} in interest. Any other credit card or line of credit with this features always puts the extra amount paid onto the promotional balance. Per customer service at Best Buy only payments within the 60 days of the expiring promotional balance will be applied after satisfying the minimum due but you have to call to transfer that payment to that balance even within the 60 day time frame. My husband has the same card and when paying extra it went automatically to the promotional balance first without a phone call and without it being the 60 day stipulation time period. As a consumer, this sounds like credit card fraud towards the consumer. I've used this feature with Macy 's credit card and Pay Pal Credit and never did I have to tell them to apply the extra payments nor was I restricted to the 60 day time period. How can Citi Bank not follow these same rules? There should be some time of regulation on Banks who issue credit card and offer these types of promotions.
