Consumer Narrative
In XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, I ordered a XXXX tree ( {$76.00} ) from a website I thought was based in Ohio. I received emails with a tracking number and never heard from the company again. I tried emailing and did not receive a response. I tracked the package from XXXX to XXXX XXXX, where it still sits today. In XXXX, I called USPS to inquire about my package and they assured me that this was not a XXXX tree and it was not heading to my house. They advised me to contact my bank immediately. I did. Chase bank immediately gave me the funds back, yeah! Not so fast. XXXX weeks later, they took it back and said they had concluded that I had received my order and the case was closed. Sorry, it's not. I printed and faxed all the emails I had and paid an additional {$9.00} to fax them to Chase. Thought, certainly now they'd see I had been scammed. Another XXXX weeks passes and XXXXhase stands by their decision, so I request to see what evidence they have that proves I have received my order from this company. After this phone call, I have not sent anything, nor spoken to Chase further. I feel I have spent enough money trying to prove to them that I am the victim of a scam and I will not spend any more. On XX/XX/XXXX, I still have no XXXX tree, no responses from XXXX, of whom I ordered the tree from, and am now out a total of {$85.00} and I am mad! I am mad because not only did my bank not listen to me, trust me, a customer of almost 30 years, but because there is a company out there ripping off customers and the banks are helping them. I started looking at this " evidence '' Chase sent me and couldn't believe my eyes. The website I ordered from used a name called XXXX when they charged my card. Not unusual, I see things like that all the time, BUT they gave Chase an address in Colorado. If you look them up, it shows up that they are in Arkansas. Do a XXXX search on them and you will find a ton of complaints of the same scenarios that happened to me. Different websites were used, but they all went back to XXXX. The XXXX has a list of " reviews '' and stories of the same, people getting ripped off from this company and not being able to get their money back. Why is that? Oh, that's because this company provides a falsified invoice, conveniently totaling the exact same amount of your order. How are they doing that? They don't add ANY TAX OR SHIPPING! What company do you know of that doesn't apply TAX?!? Not to mention that little detail that Chase happened to overlook, but the company also provided them with a tracking number. Mind you, the tracking number is legit, I know, I called and queried the USPS over it. The information they provided to Chase was just the END point AND there was NO ADDRESS. It only said my town. On top of that, if you actually put in the tracking number, it shows it came from New York! Wait, didn't they tell Chase they were from Colorado? So, I continued pouring over hundreds of complaints about this company, XXXX and found one on XXXX that caught my eye. Poor XXXX had exactly the same order, a XXXX tree, was given the same fictitious invoice by his bank and everything. I felt like I was reading my own story! Only difference being, he ordered his from www.palladium.com, yet another website this company is using to scam people. They all go back to XXXX though. All of them. I have written a report and submitted it today to The FTC, hoping they will do something about this company. Since our banks won't listen and help us, hopefully they will. I also intend on writing to the XXXX and let them know of this and any other government agency that will listen.
