On XX/XX/2024 i deposited a third part check into my chase checking account for a friend of mine in XXXX They were her payroll checks that i had to go to the XXXX and have her sign to be deposited. Chase accepted the checks then minutes later i recieved a notification to call the bank. When i called they told me that the checks were fraudulent checks and that they were closing all XXXX of my accounts due to these checks being fraud. Which i knew they were not fraudulent checks. I was told that they restricted my account until the checks could be verified as authentic.. on XX/XX/XXXX the checks cleared and money was in my account but chase locked my account so i couldnt get the money or use my account. When i called the woman told me that i should t have deposited the checks and that the only way i can keep my account is to contact the check issuer and ask them to place a stop payment on the checks. This way the funds can be returned and ill ve avle to keep my account. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have waited almost two weeks and they closed my other XXXX accounts and leaving this one opened. Then they tell me to have stop payment on check which really makes it look like fraud. The representatives have all told me different things that make no sense. The last one i spoke to from chase was so rude and condescending i just gave up. So my account has XXXX balance and they refuse to turn my card or account back on from being restricted. How can a bank hold money hostage in my account. If there was a problem with the checks why did they process them. They restricted my account XXXX XXXX after deposit was accepted therefore they knew they had a problem but still deposited them or submitted them for payment and put money in account but restricted my access to bank. I have never experienced such banking practices in my life. The checks were not fraud the bank told me they were not fraud and in the mean time this money is in my account since XX/XX/XXXX and the bank ensured i have no access to it. So why did they cash it? If the check was flagged as fraud why did the bank submit for payment let alone accept the deposit. Now there is basically nothing i can do and the bank is strong arming me vlosing my accounts and not giving me money.
