My husband has Citi XXXX XXXX XXXX. I am authorized user of the card. We were paying down this card for a while, not adding any more charges on it. Then they had offered a XXXX % interest for a XXXX XXXX period promotion. So we started using this card again instead of other cards we had. Unfortunately It looks like we cant pay it off completely by the end of the promotion. Citi card will make money by charging the interest on the amount that we left to pay at that time. The silver lining was that with XXXX % interest charged, we wont go over the credit limit, so no over limit charges will be added on top of bone crushing interest. But then as the end of the XXXX % interest promotions end approached ( XXXX ), XXXX, Citi decreased our credit limit down to XXXX of what it was. So if we dont pay off much more than we planned by XXXX, which will be very difficult if not impossible, and the non promotional interest ( about XXXX % ) will be added, then well go over the credit limit, then they can charge us the fee for going over the credit limit, too. When the XXXX % interest rates for limited time was presented to us, we didnt or couldnt foresee this kind of trick would be played at the end of the promotional period. Credit card companies may argue this is perfectly legal but this isnt fair nor in good faith. XXXX XXXX card did the very same thing shortly before Citi card did this. So I suspect this is widespread trick credit card company play with, regular, working peoples money, credit scores, and lives. It needs to be fixed. Please help.
