XXXX XXXX cashed a {$17000.00} check I made payable to and mailed to the IRS for taxes. XXXX XXXX got the funds from US Bank ( my bank ) and charged my account. When I received a notice from the IRS that my taxes had not been paid, I requested a copy of the cancelled check from US Bank and the bank teller told me it looked like the endorsement appeared to be forged. Apparently, someone acquired the check, forged the endorsement, and was able to cash the check at XXXX XXXX XXXX. Since the check was payable to the IRS, XXXX XXXX XXXX should not have cashed the check. I suspect an employee of XXXX XXXX and the person who cashed the check conspired to commit fraud and steal my funds. After many months of arguing this position, both banks have denied the claim. There is no possible way I could have known that the IRS did not receive the check until they notified me that they never received my payment. It would not occur to any reasonable lay person that the check was fraudulently endorsed when the payee on the check ( IRS ) was not scrubbed and my bank statement clearly showed it was cashed as expected. This has resulted in me being in a {$17000.00} hole. The section below is not allowing me to attach any files but I have a copy of the cancelled check I would like to include as part of this complaint.
