XXXX XX/XX/2024 I messaged Chase on their website and stated that I wanted to cash in my rewards and close the consumer credit card account. I received a reply message stating that the reward amount would be credited to my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called the customer service number for chase and spoke to a representative. I enquired about how I could pay off the account since I was closing it. The representative said that he could help me with that over the phone. He said that he could see that the account was closed and he could see the rewards credit and then gave me a balance of {$3600.00}. I specifically asked him, because the balance was less that the previous statement balance of $ {$4500.00}, was I going to be charged interest because I am paying less than the statement balance. He assured me that I would not and that if I paid the XXXX, the account would be closed. I then gave him my checking account routing and acct number and paid off the acct. Two weeks later I got a statement with a {$47.00} balance which was 100 % interest charges from the previous period. I then called the Chase customer service line and explained to the representative that I had been assisted with paying off the account, and assured that there would be no more charges. I asked to have the interest charge removed. the representative said that she tried and it was denied. Twice. I explained that I was not going to pay it. Today I got a statement with a balance of {$76.00} which included a {$29.00} late fee and the afor mentioned interest.
