First things first. My credit score is above XXXX and has been for many years. I unfroze my credit reports on XXXX XXXX. Applied for Sam 's Club MasterCard on XX/XX/XXXX. Bank checked credit same day. Received letter dated XX/XX/XXXX several days later, advising that I need to call them to verify my identity. I did that on XX/XX/XXXX. They asked a few questions and I was told that I would be receiving a letter in the mail within 10 days advising status of the application. Letter never received.. XX/XX/XXXX sent an e-mail to Sam 's Club advising I had not received a reply from the bank. XX/XX/XXXX Received a call from Sam 's Club and explained the problem. They connected me directly to a representative of Synchrony Bank. Could not get any satisfaction from the rep, and I asked to speak with a supervisor, which I did. My concern is why is it taking so long to get a credit card, when other banks promise instant approval. After arguing with this supervisor, she finally told me that the card application was denied. Pressing for a reason, she said they could not verify my identity. Kind of ridiculous, because I called them. If they weren't able to verify my identity, that surely wasn't my fault. Obviously, they didn't ask the right questions. I was told I would be getting a letter in the mail That was almost a month ago. Still no formal written denial of my application. The supervisor then went on to tell me to apply again. That is absurd. First off, the inquiry to my credit report was the first one since XXXX. I refuse to re-apply because they were given enough information in the first place. Secondly, l will not unlock my credit reports as I do not want an unnecessary inquiry on there. I am a former XXXX XXXX and I am very familiar with how this stuff works. The Sam 's Club Master Card has many benefits, and the store pushes it almost with every purchase. I don't think Synchrony Bank is doing themselves or Sam 's Club any favors if how I was treated is par for the course. Why does it take such a long time to get any response from the bank? That is one of my complaints. Being denied for them being unable to verify my identity is not my fault.
