In XXXX 2023, I applied to an apartment complex but was denied because Collections USA INC is reported on my XXXX and XXXX credit report. I contacted the Collections USA INC company and was asked to provide the last four digits of my social security number and date of birth. Upon rendering the information, the representative stated that Collections USA INC did not have a record of me owing a debt to said company then suggested that I contact the credit bureaus to have the information removed. I contacted XXXX whom stated that they would reach out to the collection agency to have it removed and suggested that I reach back out to the collection agency as well. When speaking to the same representative at Collections USA Inc for the second time, he then asked me for my personal information again and stated that the debt did in fact belong to me. I stated what the person at Collections USA INC had told me the first time I called which was that the said company did not have a debt on record for me. The representative from Collections USA INC told me in order to have the debt cleared, I would have to file a police report even though Collections USA did not furnish proof that the debt is mine. I sent in a certified letter to Collections USA INC but have not received the information requested as far as validation of the debt the company has reported to XXXX as well as XXXX.
