First, I opened a certificate of deposit with CIBC US on XX/XX/24. I got a confirmation email mentioning that my account will start accruing interest once it is funded on XX/XX/24. I just got my monthly statement showing that it is indeed funded, however, there is XXXX interest on it. Seems like a breach of contract to me and I would like to learn why my deposit didnt accrue interest. Next, I was not provided an account number at the time of sign-up and subsequently, I was unable to open an online banking profile to access my funds. Additionally the customer service department is unreachable, since I called multiple times, often waiting for 1-2 hours in the hope of reaching somebody. But I was never able to get to a representative ever. So essentially my money is locked with CIBC and I have no way of accessing it, and that is quite troubling. I would like CIBC to address these by letting me access my funds, looking into why my account isnt accusing interest, and if they cant manage my funds then I would like to take my money out.
