I received letter delivered by a state marshal from the court stating I'm being sued on XX/XX/XXXX. I never received anything from the creditor or the collections agency stating the debt was transferred or that I have right to dispute the debt. In XX/XX/XXXX I called original creditor to see if they would work with me to lower my payments as I had been in the hospital and unable to pay and they refused to. I asked them to then close the account and they didn't. I enrolled the debt into a program to reduce my debt and I never heard anything from the creditor nor received anything from them or any collections agency until XX/XX/XXXX when I got the letter of lawsuit.
