I had about {$55000.00} in student loans held by aidvantage in my name during the start of the COVID pandemic. They were a mix of subsidized AND unsubsidized loans. During that time, I decided to refinance my home to pay off those loans completely. My balance was down to XXXX. Paid OFF. Then I was told I was entitled to a refund of any payments made up to {$20000.00} to help out financially due to the pandemic situation. When you hear REFUND, does it sound anything like ANOTHER LOAN???? No. So I called and emailed back and forth trying to ask Aidvantage, my servicer, about this so called refund. Eventually I got ahold of someone and they simply asked what refund I wanted over the phone. I told them I paid my loans off but heard I could get a refund of up to XXXX on payments made. They said yes, and said that they would process some paperwork to make that happen. It took months and then I got a payment to my bank account for the refund. I utilized it to pay of some other high interest debt and survive during a time of financial stress, as I thought it was intended for. And I didnt receive ANY paperwork or sign ANY documents for getting this refund. Then, I got an email from the education department, not even initially aidvantage, that I suddenly held a NEW {$20000.00} loan ( UNSUBSIDIZED even though I PAID ALL of my balance both unsubsidized and subsidized OFF completely ) WITH interest?????? Now they keep emailing me asking for payment and I will not give them one dime. I did not sign ONE thing that authorizes this. I am already in the works of gathering a lawyer and setting up my case to sue Aidvantage for the complete lack of information, professionalism, and predatory lending practices which they have already settled class action lawsuits for. I am escalating this in EVERY way that I can. Aidvantage will not take advantage of me. How is it even fair that they re instate a loan WITH Interest and without my permission or signature after I paid it all off!? Its NOT. Its an offense that Aidvantage will again be sued for.
