Consumer Narrative
I am currently trying to do a refi on my property. During the title search a second mortgage is on there. I purchased the home in 2007. I had my first and second mortgage with XXXX XXXX, which went under. The second mortgage was sent to One West and I continued on with them. At some point, the loan was transferred again, however I never received any notice. I did not know who to call or where it went. To determine who now owns this loan I had to call the FDIC. I then called CIT bank https : //www.cit.com/, which is where they told me it went. After many hours and transfers, I finally got a live person who told me " I can see your name and address but that is all I can give you, our system is down ''. To which I asked when it would be back up. They couldn't answer if it would be days or weeks. This is a time sensitive document I need for a refi for an emergency, and I am unable to get what I need from a lender who never notified me of the transfer and can not give me the information now and can't tell me when that may be possible. This loan transferred well over 10 years ago and if I was properly notified, I would have been making payments to reduce the loan amount. Not notifying of a transfer should be illegal. I am now in a bad position because of the mishandling of my account by a bank. I would like to negotiate a lien release asap due to their error.
