I bought my home with a government backed FHA loan in XX/XX/XXXX. I am now facing foreclosure because of a misunderstanding regarding the mortgage payment. I have been told that there are no options for help besides full reinstatement or an expensive repayment plan. I feel that Carrington Mortgage has obstructed access to government programs that should be made available to me since I have a government backed loan. I have never been considered for a loan modification or a partial claim and was not even aware that there was a problem until two months ago. When I bought the home I lived here with my boyfriend and XXXX XXXX. My boyfriend covered the mortgage payment and I took care of all of the bills and groceries. In XX/XX/XXXX my boyfriend separated from me and moved out. Since we share a XXXX we made an agreement that he would continue to pay the mortgage payment until XX/XX/XXXX and I trusted that he was following through. I was contacted by Carrington collections in XX/XX/XXXX and told that I was behind on the mortgage payment. This was the first I had heard of this, as I was being misled that my boyfriend was still covering the house payment. I found out that he had not made a payment since XXXX. I spoke with an English speaking representative and there was some difficulty understanding because of language barrier. They offered me a repayment plan that I believed required a one month payment of {$2200.00}. I made the first payment and thought after that my payment would go back to {$1300.00} but then realized that there were two more payments of {$2200.00} that I could not afford. I called back in and asked for a Spanish speaker who helped me better understand. Once it was explained to me I said I could not make this payment. The agent said they would look at the information and see what they could do to help. I did not hear anything from Carrington so I called back and found out that I am in foreclosure. I am a single mom who works full time as an XXXXXXXX XXXX at the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. I was surprised to find I was behind because my ex-boyfriend lied and told me he was still paying. Now the court said he has to pay me {$600.00} a month in child support but he has not given me any of this money yet. I do not want to lose my house and I know that because I have an FHA loan that there were several programs that could help and feel that Carrington should have explained that to me instead of pushing me into a repayment plan. I have never been granted access to government programs that your Carrington is required to make available to struggling homeowners with FHA loans. I have never been reviewed or considered for any of these programs like loan modification or deferred partial claim or recapitalization of arrearages or 12 month repayment plan ( not 3 month ) that your company needs to review me for. This has never happened.
