Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/2023, frustrated w/my bank and their recent policy changes, I decided to change banks. I went online to Bank of America and proceeded to open a new checking and savings account ( approval e-mail from them attached ). I opted to fund each opening deposit via ACH transfer ( an option offered ) and provided the routing and account numbers of my current account for them to initiate an ACH transaction to fund the new accounts. As expected, they processed Monday and cleared my account Tuesday night, posting Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX, as shown on the attached. On Saturday, the XXXX, I logged on to " check on things '' and noticed they still had not credited my account. Even if there were to be a fund availability hold, on an ACH it should have been off by Saturday. So, I attempted to live chat them and discovered I couldn't do it from computer ( how nice, no way for me to have a transcript/record of what was said ). Left with no choice, I phoned them and got the usual... a few menu 's, the time-waster telling you can do things online ( this couldn't be done online ), etc., then the " longer than normal hold times 'but we can call you back ' ... '' They called back and might as well have not wasted my time... The first rep was completely clueless, so I asked for a Supervisor. After a lengthy hold, I was connected with " XXXX. '' This was also a was of time... XXXX first tried to tell me I must've entered a number ( routing or account ) incorrectly. Wait, wrong, it's pretty obvious I entered them correctly as they were deducted from my external account ... in the end, I was told by XXXX that I would need to contact my OLD bank to have them trace it. HOW on earth would my old bank know what Bank of America did internally with the money? My old bank did their part, they paid the ACH which BofA sent thru, but they would have no clue what BofA did with the offsetting entry internally ( that should have credited my account ). I attempted to give them one more opportunity by wasting of my time today to call them. I did, and it was again a total waste of time. Today the supervisor ( yes, same today, rep then supvr ) tried to tell me ACH 's can take 3-5 days ... Yes, that might be true ( tho really, in this day & age ), but OK, I should STILL see it in my balance ( Ledger balance ), just not available balance... it's NOWHERE and NOBODY seems to know where it went! I just want these accounts CLOSED ( with no early closing fees due to their ineptness ), and the money sent back to my old ( tho now again current ) bank account and I'm DONE with BofA.
