Before I consolidated my student loans with a parent plus loan, I spoke with XXXX at length about it and I was told that my payments made would still count towards discharge and would remain the same. Discharge in 25 years. They gave me credit for those months and continuously reported it as such. However, when AidVantage took over they changed it and took away those credit years showing now I owe another 18 years. I complained and they refuse to change it back. I filed a complaint with Student Aid and they just referred it back to AidVantage and it won't change. So, now I'm trying to file a complaint with CFPB to see if I can get this addressed and taken care of. I'm almost XXXX XXXX XXXX. The massive interest on the student loan has grown and it will never be discharged in my lifetime if I don't have credit for the years as stated by XXXX. If I get credit for those years, I will be close to discharge.
