Consumer Narrative
My bank USAA put my account into Inactive Status, which then accrues no interest for 3 years, and did not notify me they were doing so. I routinely checked the account to make sure there was money there, and it was linked to my checking via overdraft protection, but nothing indicated it was actually " inactive ''. The account status was not indicated on their website when I checked the account, I received no email nor paper mail about it, nor any other communication about the change in status. I only found out when I tried to move money out of the account and had no way to access the account as it had been disconnected from all ability to move money in the account.
