I have a balance at a previous university and because of this, they have a hold on my transcripts. They said if I worked with the collections company that has my debt, they will release the transcripts. I contacted the company and made the required upfront payment and I am very concerned with how this company handles my personal information. I called to make this payment on XX/XX/2023. When the individual answered, I told them why I was calling and they said they could help and asked if I was 'MY NAME '. I am, and so I responded with yes. Then the individual read off my SSN, DOB, address, email, and phone number to me asking if this was accurate. I could of been anyone and this individual gave out every piece of personal information I have. They didn't ask to confirm it and have me read out the information, they read it off themselves. This is an unethical example of handling personal information. I have canceled my card and plan to contact the school to find a new method of handling this debt.
