On XXXX XXXX I made a large furniture purchase to replace all my flood damaged living room furniture at XXXX of {$11000.00}. I errantly gave the salesman my XXXX Citi Visa Card which had a {$9500.00} limit instead of my XXXX XXXX card which has a large limit. Citibank approved the transaction although it was almost {$2000.00} over my limit. If they had declined the card I would have immediately known I had used the wrong card. I did not realize the error until I returned home and noticed the last for digits of the Costco Visa XXXX were on the invoice. I called Citi and wanted to pay the entire balance off right then and there. The agent said it was still pending and I would have to wait until it posted. The statement closing date was XX/XX/XXXX during a three day holiday weekend. I called back at least four times trying to pay this balance off in full. The agents could not do it and the website would not allow me to pay because it was still pending XX/XX/XXXX the statement closing date. On the morning of the XXXX I made the full balance payment of {$11000.00} after an email from Citi on the XXXX said the charge had finally posted and my full payment was made then. My complaint is Citi posted the {$11000.00} on the XX/XX/XXXX statement after telling me it was still pending. This caused Citi to report to all the three major credit bureaus I was over my limit destroying my XXXX plus credit rating after repeatedly telling me it was pending. Deceptive and untruthful was Citibank. I want an explanation and removal of the information from my credit reports.
