I called Citi about a credit card statement that I inadvertently forgot to pay. The balance was {$97.00} on that statement. I paid for a {$5600.00} insurance policy the next month and when the statement came due, it had a {$100.00} interest charge. There's supposed to be a grace period on my XXXX insurance policy, but for some reason the interest from the {$97.00} statement is being applied to the entire balance. This is predatory and totally unfair. This is a backdoor way to have 1200 % yearly APR. Second issue is that the rep that I was transfered to just closed my account as I was asking questions. I wanted to know how my points would be accessible and if and how refunds would be posted. I did not intend to close that day as I had a large balance of points incoming and a few refunds and wanted to make sure my payment would post and I would still have access before closing but the rep didnt listen to me and went ahead and closed it. XXXX is the last rep I spoke to and he informed me that someone could listen to the recording and reopen the account.
