I signed a contract with Rocket Mortgage, to refinance my house, that I owned free and clear. The home did not have insurance as I had bought it for cash tears earlier. As part of the closing, I agreed for home owners insurance and flood insurance to be paid for out of the my equity funds at closing, and then to pay extra each month for the insurances and taxes to be paid in escrow. However, something happened with the Flood Insurance and there was a wrong address or something, and I was told the check was sent to the insurance company, but no flood insurance was placed. I then received a letter from Rocket Mortgage telling me I allowed my Flood Insurance lapse. It is impossible for me to allow it to lapse, because it was paid for in closing and is escrowed. I contacted the mortgage company and all they would say is they were going to get Force Placed Insurance, so I contacted insurance agent and the mortgage broker trying to find out why I was going on. At this point, the mortgage company and the closing agent should have been looking into this. We eventually got the issue cleared up, which required me having to pay cash to the insurance comp-any, which was not the original contract agreement. Meanwhile, Rocket did the Force Place Insurance and changed my mortgage amount, then changed it again, and then charged me for the mistake. My mortgage is just under XXXX and I have paid XXXX early every month, yet I have not received full credit for my extra payments, and then Rocket began charging me late fees because I refuse to pay for the mistake in closing. Finally, they sold my mortgage and passed the problem to another company, where that company charged me fees that Rocket passed on, including a late fee, when all my payments have been made early. Rocket mortgage refused to work with me and fix the mistake that was made in closing. It seems the consumer was the only one not protected during the closing, and all the professional licensed professionals involved in the closing absolved themselves of all responsibilities.
