Applied for, and was immediately approved for, a Citibank credit card with a promotional sign up bonus ( 20 % off Bloomingdales purchases in the first two days, up to {$250.00} ). I placed a qualifying order, which was cancelled after pending for three days. On investigation, it turned out that the card was declined as it was pending some sort of verification check ; Citibank never reached out to me ( although I provided complete contact information, and as far as I knew from web application had been approved ). I asked whether the sign up offer would be honored now that three days had passed, and was told it would not be. This seems to me at best misleading ; I abided by the terms of the card promotion, yet am deprived of the inducement.
