I applied online for a lowes/synchrony credit card. I provided all the required information including a biometric scan and images of both sides of my State issued drivers license online. I received an error message that said I needed to go to a Lowes store and apply which I did. The store personnel did not request the biometric facial recognition data or the copies of my drivers license and they informed me that I was denied. I have more than 10 C d accounts and a RoomstoGo/Synchrony account all in good standing. Now I am being told that Synchrony can deny credit for any reason they so choose. This is a direct violation of The Fair Credit Reporting Act as it is worded. I need to know if I can expect this kind of disfunctional credit assessment due to unannounced changes to lending policies which do not mention that this new requirement can be used, even when it doesn't work properly online or in store, to deny credit to a perfectly credit qualified individual.
