I received a Visa gift card in the amount of {$50.00} with an expiration date of XX/XX/XXXX from my son about 2 years ago. I did not use it right away and forgot about it as it was in another purse. When I found the gift card the other day, XX/XX/XXXX, I decided I should activate it and use it. Upon activation I was surprised to see it had a {$0.00} balance. Upon further investigation I saw that the company that issued the XXXXift card, GiftCards.com, had charged a dormancy fee to the account in the amount of {$4.00} a month until the entire {$50.00} balance had been depleted. I phoned the company at XXXX, and explained what happened and requested they reverse the fees. I spoke with a gentleman named XXXX who stated he opened a case # XXXX and took my email information and said I would get a response in XXXX days. I received an email response from Giftcards.com/Omnicard.com today, XXXX, with " their sincerest apologies since they were unable to reverse the fees. The fees were deducted because there are costs associated with maintaining the account, largely driven by requirements legal and reporting of the issuing bank. By Terms and Conditions, we can not reverse the fees. ''
