Consumer Narrative
Hi I had a checking account with Bank of America ending ( XXXX ). That account was closed by the bank in ( XXXX XXXX ) due to fraudulent activity and we were assigned a new bank account ending XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, we discovered an online transaction in bill pay {$1000.00} was sent to a deceased person ( died in XXXX ) used to do handy work. The money was taken from a back up account because the closed account didnt of course had any fund. How a closed account is useable and its backup account still effective. The bank didnt do close the account correctly. The bank didnt protect me. I called the bank the fraud department over 20 times and I also took off from work twice and went in person to Bank of America and no solution. I was told that they are waiting for the ( deceased ) person who cashed the check to get the check back. The check was cashed by another bank. The check was sent to a po box . So they have 2 official places to get their investigation going and closing the gaps. This is very exhausting.
