I was issued a card from XXXX This site is owned by Blackhawk Networks and is currently the subject of a class action lawsuit for a massive data breach. This company has a 97 % negative rating at various sites like XXXX XXXX for a series of tactics designed to prevent consumers from being able to use the card. These cards are often issued to consumers by airlines which is where the bulk of complaints come from. My card is activated yet declined everywhere. I was unable to add the card to XXXX XXXX. Their app, whose sole purpose is to facilitate this doesnt work and appears to be a trojan that collects personal information from devices. Ive spent 3 hours on the phone with them, and that phone system which is often down is designed to prevent consumers from resolving issues. Once I was able to speak to someone, they were unable to provide me with information about where the card is accepted despite telling me it only works at certain retailers. This is despite it carrying a XXXX logo. The site is deliberately misleading, and despite my having an activated card and access to the card number, XXXX and expiration date both the site and the company tell me I had to create an account, and provide them with personal information to use it. That has had no affect, but their terms of use states that they will use this information for marketing. This is for a pre-activated digital card I was given as a gift. Their customer service people have also demanded information about the computers that I own, operating systems, etc. My experiences are very similar to other peoples. The case I opened with the company was automatically closed with no resolution. One of this companies other sites, giftcards.com suffered a major data breach in 2020. I believes that this company relies on a tactics to ensure that a certain percentage of consumers will give up on getting their money which Blackhawk will then pocket.
