I filed for covid forbearance during the pandemic related to lost of income per the carrington mortgage policy. I received confirmation from carrington of my acceptance into forbearance. My forbearance was scheduled to end XX/XX/2021. I contacted Carrington to begin start making mortgage payments. I was told by carrington no action needed at this time, they would contact me. This went on for several months. I would call and ask the status of my loan and was alway told the same we are working on it. Approximately XX/XX/2021 I was reported to credit bureaus as being delinquent on mortgage to date. I contacted carrington and was told I never had a forbearance. An offer was submitted by carrington to make {$7000.00} mortgage payments per month to catch loan up. I was previously paying $ XXXX month mortgage payments. This was an unreasonable payment amount. I contacted VA for assistance and was told they were unable to help me. VA did confirm I was never listed as covid forbearance by carrington. I was offered a 3 month trial payment plan of XXXX, which I have paid. My new mortgage payments from loan modification will be XXXX. My complaint is how did I get punished with higher monthly payments, when I followed all policy and procedures per Carrington website regarding covid forbearance? Why is my credit destroyed? It was my understanding forbearance was just a pause in payments set forth by us government. Now I have $ XXXX added to my loan plus higher monthly payment.
