I received a phone call from someone reporting to be with Bank of America. They asked if I was trying t open a new personal checking account which I was not. They then told me that someone knew my name, home address, email address and ss # and was attempting to open an checking account in my name. I received an email from this Bank of America person and then called my advisor at Merrill Lynch who verified that the call from Bank of America was legitimate. I am now taking measures recommended by my Merrill Lynch advisor by freezing my credit with all three credit reporting agencies, etc.
