I am trying to close my debit card account and Bank of America will not close it. I received a letter from BofA dated XX/XX/2022 stating the agreement terms and fees had changed. It says " if the Agreement and the Fee Disclosure are not acceptable to you, you must call or write us within 21 days after the date of this letter and request that you close the account. '' I called BofA on XX/XX/XXXX to close the account and was told they would not close the account. I asked to a speak to a supervisor and they also told me they would not close the account. I read the letter to them to confirmed it was a valid legal letter from BofA and they confirmed it was. They said they could add my name to a list to send to another manager to see if anything could be done, but not to expect anything until after the holidays. This feels like fraud to not let someone close an account and force them to new terms after sending a letter saying they can close the account. Additional info : This debit card account is associated with the XXXX XXXXXXXX and was originally opened over 10 years ago when I was had unemployment benefits. There has been a XXXX balance for years and I do not use card at all. XXXX says I need to contact the bank, and BofA says I need to contact XXXX.
