I am writing to report predatory advertising by a company XXXX My mother, who is a XXXX, received a prepaid XXXX XXXX as a " reward '' for completing her XXXX appointment. One of the methods to activate the card is to call the number XXXX ( see attached ). Upon calling the number, an automated attended inquired whether anyone in her house was over 55 years of age, and then notified her that she was being selected for a " special opportunity. '' She was not provided an opportunity to opt-out before being transferred to a live agent, and the automated attended aggressively and repeated demanded that she press 1 now. A live attendant aggressively launched into a high-pressured pitch to sign up for something regarding XXXX benefits XXXX Despite shouting to the attendant to stop talking ( she only wanted to activate the gift card ), my mother eventually had no choice but to disconnect the call. With my assistance, my mother was able to use the XXXX code to bypass the aggressive sales agents and activate the card. I ask that the CFPB investigate this predatory marketing scheme. Thank you.
