Consumer Narrative
I was notified on XX/XX/2022, by XXXX XXXX XXXX that someone had fraudulently used my identity to secure an Ink account in my name on XX/XX/2022. They closed the account, and I have been chasing ripples from my identity theft since. I have made a police report to my local police department, XXXX XXXX MO XXXX ( XXXX. XXXX XXXX # XXXX, report # XXXX ), and I have submitted an Identity Theft Report ( # XXXX ) to the FTC. I have frozen all of my credit reports, and have placed a 1 year fraud alert on all three of my credit reporting accounts. In reviewing my credit reports from the 3 major consumer credit reporting agencies, I noticed a hard inquiry from Bank of America dated XX/XX/2022. This was not me, it was an inquiry generated from the identity theft. I disputed the inquiry, since it was due to the identity theft. BOA reviewed their records and confirmed that the information they reported to the consumer reporting agencies is correct. They will not remove the fraudulent inquiry from my credit report, and consider the dispute resolved.
