Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/2022, I was alerted that our landlord, XXXX XXXX, had sold our information to an online company called creditrentboost.com without our consent or knowledge. The email was sent on XX/XX/2022 but I did not see it till the following day, Saturday, XX/XX/2022. As the XXXX was a Saturday I had no way to reach anyone at XXXX XXXX. So in the mean time I began to contact the credit bureaus in reference to this. I have identity theft protection through XXXX and was told they would submit a dispute for me and also recommended I do the same with the other XXXX credit bureaus. They also advised me to place fraud alerts and credit freezes on both mine and my husbands credit accounts. They said they would have a XXXX XXXXXXXX contact me in a few days to advise me of what other measures I would need to take. On Monday, XX/XX/2022, I called XXXX XXXX to find out what was going on. The XXXX XXXX employee, XXXX, that answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about. He took my information and said he would have someone call me back. About an hour after we had spoken XXXX did call me back. XXXX informed me that he couldnt find anyone that knew anything in regards to this manner. I asked if the property XXXX, XXXX, would be able to help with this and I was informed that she was no longer with the company. I asked if the front desk girl, XXXX, would know anything about it and was told she also was no longer with the company. XXXX then proceeded to ask me which realtor rented us the unit. I told him that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX the unit but she had made it very clear to us after we moved in not to contact her. XXXX said if there were any issues in regards to the unit to contact the property XXXX, XXXX, and if it was in regards to anything else to contact the front desk girl, XXXX. He assured me that he would find someone who knew about this and that they would call me back. I finally received a phone call from the realtor that rented us the unit, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I told her about the email I had received she refused to even discuss the matter with me till I forwarded her the email. I asked if she knew what I was talking about and she said she did but she did not want to comment on it until she saw the email. After getting the email XXXX admitted that they did this. She said it should not have been done as this was only for tenants in the tenant amenity program and that program had not started when we signed our lease and we were grandfathered out of it. She informed me that I would need to speak with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX then began apologizing and saying this never should have happened and either she or XXXX XXXX would call me back. On XX/XX/2022, XXXX called me back to inform me that XXXX XXXX was out of town and would not return till late Sunday, XX/XX/2022. XXXX did say she had spoken with XXXX in regards to this and that it was a mistake and that XXXX was willing to call me on Monday, XX/XX/2022, at XXXX a.m. if I would like. I informed XXXX that I did want the to speak with XXXX and asked her to be sure to have her call me and I asked for XXXX to send me an email confirming everything we had just talked about, which she did. On Monday, XX/XX/2022, XXXX XXXX did call me. We discussed the situation and she did admit that they did do this. She admitted they should not have and said she was going to contact creditrentboost.com by email as soon as we got off the phone to rectify the situation. I asked XXXX to please send me a copy of that email and the response, which she did. In the response email from XXXX XXXX, tenant relations with creditrentboost.com, he agreed to remove the information from both mine and my husbands credit report. In the mean time while all of this was going on I had been contacted by the restoration XXXX with my identity theft program through XXXX, XXXX XXXX. XXXX filed a dispute in regards to this information for me and advised me to place fraud alerts and credit freezes in both mine and my husbands accounts. She also emailed me a list of places that I needed to report this to and told me to file a police report with my local police department. I am still trying to finish up all the things that XXXX said I should do. I did file a report with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with XXXX XXXX today, Wednesday, XX/XX/2022 when she returned my phone call. She gave me a case # XXXX and informed me that the hard copy would be available something next week through the records department. So in conclusion I am still waiting on this information to be removed from both my and my husbands credit reports. I have filed disputes with the credit bureaus, the FTC, placed both fraud and credit freezes on our credit accounts, filing this complaint here with the XXXX and have also filed a report with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
