On XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to make a loan request with Synchrony Bank to purchase a XXXX XXXX XXXX phone through the XXXX store. The process bugged and it would not let me purchase the phone with the account. So I was forced to purchase the phone with my debit card. On the same day I called Synchrony Bank customer support to close the account. They confirmed with me that they closed the account. This is reflected on my credit report. Since then they have been hounding me with emails and physical mail about owing {$27.00} on an account that I have with them. They told me I no longer had an account with them. I called them a few times in early XXXX to close this account and confirm I owed them nothing. Customer support with Synchrony confirmed with me that I do not owe them anything. However they continued to harass me about payment. By request from their customer support, I sent them a fax on XX/XX/XXXX or XXXX XXXX with proof of my purchase with my own debit card. My credit report says my account with them is closed. Yet they continue to insist I owe them. I did not get a response to my cease and desist. In the last few months they have hit my credit score with purported " late payments '' on an account that is not mine.
