I opened an account with the 7-11 Netspend reloadable debit card. The initial deposit was {$20.00}. I then called the number to activate it and deposited an additional {$50.00}, which brought the balance to {$70.00}. The next day I tried using the card and was declined. After a few more unsuccessful attempts, I called the company to complain. I was told it needed to be activated first. However, it was activated and accepting deposits. Next, I was required to verify my ID by sending a copy of my license. This process would take 3-5 days to complete. I waited 1 week and still could not use the card. I called a 2nd time and was told I needed to send a copy of my social security card, in addition to my liscense, in order to use the card. At this point, it has been almost 4 weeks since I bought the card. I refused to send a copy of my ss card to a viritual stranger as it is not legal to request this information. I had verbally given my information twice so far. I argued with the rep and was told " the only way to activate the account is providing my ss card information ". I said no and demanded a refund. The balance available was approximately {$50.00} and change because they deducted maintenance fees for a card I never used. I asked for the entire amount of {$70.00} to b e refunded. I was told they would send a check, but no such check has come. That was 3 weeks ago. I still can't access my money and no refund check has come in the mail.
