I had a chase sapphire preferred account which was closed in XXXX of this year. I was under the impression that all points and rewards accrued ( XXXX points, worth approx. {$1600.00} per valuations by leading journalists ) would remain since I had another ultimate rewards account open ( chase freedom card ). Chase did not disclose anything different to me at the time of account closure. On XXXX of this year, I attempted to redeem some of these points and noticed that they were missing. Chase was telephoned on XXXX and I explained the situation. Chase associates were initially able to locate all documents and were understanding and sympathetic to my request. End Result of this call was that chase would file appeal on my behalf to receive the points back and I would hear back within 7-10 business days. After this call, chase purged records from this account on XX/XX/XXXX ( hardly seems coincidental ). Appeal filed was notated under wrong account ( ending in XXXX, not XXXX ) and was denied per letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. Telephoned Chase again on XX/XX/XXXX after receiving incorrect denial letter. Chase associates and supervisor were unable to find records of this account except that it was closed in XXXX of XXXX. This closure date is clearly incorrect, as statements were generated as late as XXXX of XXXX. Charges were made in XXXX of XXXX. Chase claims disclosure was read to me upon account closure, but I do not recall this disclosure and would have acted on this information. Reached impasse with chase and decided to escalate matters to CFPB.
