I noticed a collection placed on my credit report from Choice Recovery/XXXX XXXX XXXX ( now XXXX ). I sent several letters to their collection company, but they never replied to my letters. I was concerned that this was a potential identity theft related file since my identity was stolen multiple times over the years. I was able to finally confirm that was not the case. I have sent several emails to the Office Manager at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX but only received one response with a copy of a bill. I also copied several corporate office employees on my emails to her. They are ignoring my requests. I do not think the bill is accurate, since I had insurance and normally paid through my flexible spending account, any copays, deductibles etc. I called their collection agency today and was told that this account was closed and that they are not actively collecting since it is past the statute of limitations. He advised me to pay it if I wanted to. I let him know that I was disputing the amounts. He stated that he did not have any information to send me. I have several questions. If their collection agency has closed the account, they are not actively collecting and it is past the statute of limitations, then why is this still on my report? I am now questioning if XXXX has the correcting information on file as to when this account was delinquent and why is it still reporting. I also am concerned that their collection agency is familiar with my health information. I do not recall providing any authorization for their collection agency to have access to my health information ( per HIPPA ). This account needs to be resolved ASAP. I am trying to do research related to this, but XXXX, nor their collection agency are very helpful. I have offered to do a potential settlement on this since it is so old and I do not know how long it will take to research. XXXX has been nonresponsive. I need to get this resolved ASAP, as I need to get a medical procedure done and will need to get financing to get it done.
