Macy 's Credit Card told me I would have to pay an extra {$5.00} fee today just to pay my credit card bill on my due date. Their auto pay phone system automatically kicked me over to a human being who said I would have to pay {$5.00} to pay my bill with human assistance, although I had already spent about 30 minutes and made about three calls to three different Macy 's automatic bill pay phone numbers I found online. They rerouted calls so that I could not use their automated bill pay system and avoid paying the extra {$5.00} fee. Their policy states you must pay the fee. But it is a contrived crisis. I could tell from the resigned tone that Macy 's employees used -- as if they had already encountered a lot of grief, cursing, and rants about the {$5.00} fee. This is my point. If XXXX or XXXX people are forced to pay Macy 's an unexpected {$5.00} fee on their credit card due date -- do the math. This so-called crisis was premeditated before my XXXX XXXX, XXXX due date. It was not an accident or coincidence that on XXXX XXXX ( which was my due date for paying my Macy 's ) well, the automated phone pay system did not work -- not once but three times during a 30-minute or so span.
