In XX/XX/2019 made appt at local hospital for minor treatment ( infected thumbnail ). Was quoted {$800.00} cash, but told physician was in-network and covered by insurance, and instead told by hospital receptionist to pay {$200.00} and file insurance claim. Followed instructions but as I walked past her desk physician suddenly became out-of-network, and {$800.00} estimate instantly grew to a final bill of {$3000.00}. Paid {$200.00} and insurance paid over {$1800.00}. Total of {$2000.00} paid for {$800.00} service. Physician billed another {$780.00}, and has never responded with any documentation or explanation in 2+ years of attempted contact. Refuses to provide any information to this day. Charge is unauthorized, physician office and subsequent collection agency have not responded to any inquiries.
