Someone stole a $ XXXX check from the mail that was meant to go to the IRS for estimated tax payment. This person washed all of the writing on the check and replaced it with a new recipient, memo, forged the signature and deposited the forged check into their bank account. I filed a police report and sent a ton of evidence to the bank showing the fraud but the bank is saying that since it's been more than 30 days they can not do anything about it.
