My XX/XX/2022 statement from Rushmore Loan Management Services showed my Outstanding Principal to be {$970.00}. The upcoming interest was to be {$2.00}. My normal payment amount also included {$400.00} in extra principal, plus escrow amounts. So the bottom of the XX/XX/2022 statement told me " You are currently enrolled in automatic payments. Your payment is schedule to draft XXXX for the amount of {$1800.00} ''. So, as usual, I did nothing. Then I received a XX/XX/2022 statement telling me I missed my payment, and owed a {$15.00} late fee. I called Rushmore and they told me they never took out my last payment, but over the phone they put in a payoff request for me. The payoff request showed the {$15.00} late fee. I was able to call Rushmore and have that removed. But the payoff also showed {$4.00} in additional interest. They told me that was interest accrued between XX/XX/2022 and XX/XX/2022 ( the payoff date ). I told them that I should not be responsible for that interest, as they had told me they would take my last payment in the XXXX statement, and they never informed me about having to request a special payoff. I believe this is a tactic they use to steal a few dollars from each customer on the way out. They very strongly argued with me, and one woman even tried to gaslight me and pretend that she had called me about my late payment, when in reality I had called her about these extra fees. It all seemed a bit shady, so I want to go on record to report it. In the end, I gave up and paid the extra {$4.00}. But that was wrong.
